I remember seeing author and motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar speak on stage. He was dynamic, making the most of any stage. During his powerful messages when he wanted to accentuate certain points in his talk, he would jump, squat, lay down, and walk to the very edge of the stage – and the audience would be intently listening in fear that he would fall off mid-sentence.
When I met my husband in college, I had lost all hope in men. Yes, I was only 20 years old, but I thought I knew everything. He and I met at the Mac Computer Lab at UCSB while I was working. Eventually I told him that I was done with guys in general and I didn’t want to date. Days later we had a long phone conversation with him begging to go out with me. Well, at least that’s what I remember.
My story is relevant to Zig Ziglar because my husband, unbeknownst to me, read See You at the Top by and was quoting it. He said, “How do you know if the fruit is any good if you don’t go out on a limb to get it?” *smiling*
