A how-to guide on taking the perfect food photo! I (Ali) have learned a thing or two since graduating college with a degree in photo, and I want to share some of that wisdom with you! Here are a few of my tried-and-true techniques for taking food pictures: 1. Use natural light, if possible! I am a sucker for natural light because of the softness it brings to a photo. Set your scene up next to a large window with lots of natural light and get ready for some beautiful photos! 2. Space! Keep things simple. Negative space keeps your viewers focused on your product! 3. Contrast! Your eye is drawn to things that contrast whether that be color, texture, or height. Use these elements to your advantage and draw your viewer to what you want them to focus on. I hope this helps, friend! When she got started in business her kids were little. The little ones were 3 and 5 and the older ones were 10 and 11. Sparq turns 10!! 🎉 When Alison asked me to join Sparq back in June, I was honored! I had recently graduated college with a degree in photography, but didn’t know what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to somehow use my photography skills to help market businesses but I wasn’t sure how to go about doing that. When I reached out to Alison to hear about her business and learn more about the social media marketing world, she immediately took me under her wing! She reached out to one of her clients and let me photograph content to use on their social media. She trusted and believed in me! The last 4 months working for Sparq have been amazing! Not only has Alison allowed me to photograph lots of content for our various clients, but she has also given me so much creative freedom. If it weren’t for Alison, I would not be doing what I love!
